"Don’t buy the lie that cultivating condemnation and wallowing in your shame is somehow pleasing to God, or that a constant, low-grade guilt will somehow promote holiness and spiritual maturity. It’s just the opposite! God is glorified when we believe with all our hearts that those who trust in Christ can never be condemned. It’s only when we receive his free gift of grace and live in the good of total forgiveness that we’re able to turn from old, sinful ways of living and walk in grace-motivated obedience."-C.J. Mahaney
"all things are full of weariness; a man cannot utter it; the eye is not satisfied with seeing nor the ear filled with hearing. what has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun." -ecclesiastes 1:8&9

hmmm, very good quote. realizing your depravity and having redemption is good, but continuously living in such a state does nothing for spiritual growth. that's something i struggle with, the actual growing part and not living with low-grade guilt that i think is holy.
ReplyDeleteliving in the good of total forgiveness is such a hard thing to do correctly, though. i should pray about this and then blog it out, for this comment is getting too lengthy :)
you should write a blog about it :)
